Residence in Canton Ticino
Bespoke Herringbone Parquet

Scope: Residential renovation, Canton Ticino
Intervention: Supply of thermally modified oak herringbone parquet, bespoke plank format

The thermally modified oak parquet, laid in a herringbone pattern with planks of specific dimensions, was designed to engage with the scale of the spaces and accompany their perception in a natural and continuous way. The result is a warm yet rigorous interior, in which the texture of the wood lends visual depth and sensory quality to the project as a whole.

Proportions and Pattern

The plank format was developed to measure in relation to the proportions of the rooms and corridors, giving the herringbone pattern a presence that is proportionate and integrated within the architecture. The laying direction guides the eye and creates visual continuity between the different areas of the home.

Debass's Role

Debass was involved in the supply of the parquet and the definition of the material solution, translating the interior designer's brief into a bespoke product. The choice of thermally modified oak offers a deeper, more intense tone with a stronger material presence compared to untreated oak.
